#Joettes Routes: Girl's Day Out
As the handpicked, exclusive Go-To Oakville expert for In The Know Local, Joette creates fun, themed adventures called #JoettesRoutes each month. This month the theme is Girls Day Out!
This mini-city tour will take you and your girlfriends on a fully-planned out afternoon of pampering, coffee, art, shopping, lunch, wine and of course, you’ll love strolling through beautiful downtown Oakville window shopping while you catch up with your best friends!
To get started simply invite a few of your girlfriends and then jump in and experience the best of Oakville using #JoettesRoutes as your easy guide.
1. Tribeca Coffee
Tell your girlfriends to meet you at Tribeca Coffee Co and enjoy what a New York City based Yelper called "One of the best coffee places I've visited in Canada!". This is the perfect base to kick off your adventure but be sure to hang around long enough to take in the west coast meets Oakville vibe!
2. Rosewater Spa
The first order of business is to put your feet up (literally) and relax during an "ooh and ahh" inducing pedicure at the glorious Rosewater Spa. Go for a bold color on those toes while you and your girlfriends take a much deserved breather. Reserve ahead and plan to find out why this is one of Joette's favorites!
3. Oakville Galleries
Now that your nails are a work of art, head to the Oakville Galleries to peruse what they've got on display. According to the Gallery website they are driven by a belief in the singular power of art and artists to deepen our understanding of ourselves and our communities and move us toward a better world. Can you think of a better addition to a girl's day out than being part of that?
4. Collusus Greek Taverna
It's time for lunch and one of Joette's favorite places to go with girlfriends is Colossus Greek Taverna. You'll know why the moment you walk in the front door and smell what is wafting from their lively kitchen. This stop on your Girl's Day Out #Route will fuel you up for the rest of the adventure and make you feel like you're miles from Oakville with the sounds of Bouzouki in the background.
5. Crackpot Studios
Now it's time to unleash your creativity and create something that will always remind you of the girlfriends who make your life so much sunnier. Suggestions for Girl's Day Out creations? How about 'group' coffee cups that celebrate your wickedly wonderful friendship? Everyone signs everyone else's coffee cups so you leave with a keepsake that features a little bit of each of your friends? This mug is sure to keep you happy on days when you can't be together!
6. Croissant Express
After getting in touch with your inner child by creating mugs together it's time to take a well deserved break at Croissant Express, touted as having one of the best croissants in the GTA. You may recognize the inside of this charming cafe from the In The Know Local Oakville magazine cover ... we shot it right here at the table by the window. If you're lucky enough to be exploring on a sunny day be sure to take the french tables outside and channel a little Paris right in downtown Oakville!
This is a must stop that gets high marks on every count. The store is beautiful, the clothes are kind to all body types and best of all, you can walk out with a brand new treasure and a whole new style while spending very little cash.
8. Kensington Kitchen and Bath
Show me a woman who doesn't consider Houzz.com to be her guilty pleasure and I will show a woman who has yet to discover the sheer delight in beautiful home design. That's why we've included a Houzz worthy kitchen and bathroom stop on Girl's Day Out. This place is guaranteed to induce oohs and ahhs ...
9. Kerr Street Cafe
If this adventure was a marathon of pampering, snacking, window shopping and oohs and ahhs then the fabulous Kerr Street Cafe is the finish line. When the day is done, rest here for awhile and enjoy one of Oakville's best places for local beers and wine. Use the time to high five a great day out and be sure to snap a few selfies, tagging @ITKnowLocal so we can celebrate your Girl's Day Out and share the love!
Bonus Stop: Gairloch Gardens
According to a TripAdvisor reviewer, "Gairloch Gardens is a lovely walk, not too long, through the gardens and to Lake Ontario. The gardens are very well attended. There is an art gallery there with various exhibits that change often, so there's always something new to see." Hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 1pm–5pm
